T-Ball

Another season of t-ball is over.  This year Sam was old enough to play.  He was on the blue "rookie" team and was actually pretty good.  We missed a few games here and there when things came up, but I think both boys had a good time and improved by the end of the season. (Oh, and don't pay attention to the Indians hat, rookies don't get a hat anymore apparently, so he is wearing Keaton's old one.)
Keaton was a "Marlin" this year. Because it was the last game, he has his medal, and treats in both hands.  I don't know why he wasn't smiling for the picture...

Having both my boys play had been a challenge just because they never played at the same time.  One of them was always having to sit and watch.  But, since I always sat under the nearest tree to watch the games, the boys discovered the joys of climbing trees.   At least it kept them occupied.
We were fortunate to have some of our extended family come and watch the games.  We got Grandma and Grandpa Hunsaker and Kristin the 2nd to last game, and Grandpa "B" the last game.  Those were the best games, and I think Emmi would agree with me. :)

Guy Smiley

As Jack nears the 2 month mark, he has become quite the smiler. Much to Chad's and the kids' dismay, it is only when I talk to him that we get big grins like these, but what do you expect? He loves his mama. :)

It is very fitting that I call him "Guy Smiley," because Jack is named after his Grandpa B, who we also like to call Guy Smiley. My dad is the happiest and friendliest man I know. He doesn't get himself down about anything. I would love Jack to turn out just like him.

I know, this one isn't a smile, but it is such a cute face, that I had to add it in.

Studying...

Yesterday was quite a significant day for me. For the last year and a half, I have been enrolled in an online medical transcription course and just yesterday, I submitted the final exam.

Since enrolling I like to think that I have learned quite a lot.

For example: I have learned TONS of medical terms such as fast spin-echo and femoropopliteal. I can now decipher prescription orders, such as p.o. means "by mouth" and b.i.d. means "twice a day," which I think is pretty fun. I can tell you how to properly punctuate a sentence too. (I thought I already knew how, but learned quite a bit more). I have learned the different kinds of medications like beta blockers, and analgesics, and even the different ways they are taken, like enteral or parenteral. I have studied the human body, its diseases, and how to properly format a medical report. Along the way, my typing speed has improved, and my listening ear has gained great strides. This is just the tip of what information the course has gone over, and what is demanded of a medical transcriptionist.

In about 2 weeks I will get back my test results and see how it all turned out. I don't know if I did enough to pass it or not. All I know is that I did the very best that I could. Until then, I am going to sit back and relax and enjoy knowing that I finished the course when it felt like I would never get here.

Sara, Sara, Quite Contrara...

My garden has gotten off to a great start this year and I am so excited about it. Last year I was a little late getting all the veggies planted and ended up getting a very small amount of produce. This year I was able to plant the middle of April, courtesy of my "walls of water" that kept them warm and it has made all the difference. This box that we put out in the middle of the playground where it gets good sun is doing the best. L to R: Peas, zucchini and banana squash, cucumbers (the zucchini is hiding them), and tomatoes.

This view shows a bit better how big the plants are getting.

I even found 2 little tomatoes growing! Yay!!

In another box I have: Lettuce, strawberries, and celery.

My watermelon and honeydew didn't survive unfortunately, but I still have: Crenshaw melon, zucchini, onions, and banana squash. I like my squash, can you tell?:) Last year I only got 1 measly little zucchini and no banana, so I am determined to grow them out my ears this time.

My last box is full of just Roma tomato plants, which are a little windblown at the moment. I have planted 9 tomato plants total. I am officially out of salsa and need to make more this fall, and I am already craving those tomato sandwiches...yum!

Last but not least... our raspberry bushes. I can't believe how tall they are getting! I am expecting to pick some berries from them this year... I will keep you posted on that.

1-Month-Old

Jack just hit the 1 month mark, and we are still very much in love with this little man. I don't have any official stats just yet, but he is gaining weight really well, and is a strong little thing. He has a good grip and a strong neck, evident by his constant need to look around. I have gotten a few smiles here and there, and it is clear that he knows his mama's voice. Whether I like it or not, my baby is looking and acting less like a newborn every day.

(Sam was my cameraman and he didn't do too bad! )

Before Jack was born I repainted his wall and had the nursery redone. I am very pleased the way it all came together.

Sneak peek...

A few days ago, one of my best friends, Becki, took some baby pics of Jack. She is an amazing photographer and I have been wanting to have her take pics of my kids for a long time now. I was so glad she was able to do Jack, even though he did embarrass his mama by pooping all over her set and carpet at the start of the shoot. But what do you expect though from a naked newborn boy? :) She put up one pic on her website and I can't wait to see the rest. To see "Baby J" and more of Becki's work click here.

Emmi in "Brass Wagon." She is the shortest one with curly hair. She cracks me up.:)

Emmi's Dance Recital

After attending my mother-in-law's dance recital for the last 9 years, I finally got to go and watch my own little dancer. The recital turned out great and my mother-in-law, Kim, did a wonderful job, as usual. It had been a very long day by the end, and Emmi did pretty good considering her age. She cried during the finale, seemed to be the only one waving in the audience saying "Hi Mama" before each dance, and about fell off the stage trying to get to us before the first number. I believe she was the youngest dancer in the bunch, so I guess it was to be expected. All in all, I thought she did great and was very proud to be her mama.

By the way... if anyone in my area is looking for a good dance studio, Kim is currently doing sign-ups for this fall. Check out her website-utahvalleysantaquindance.blogspot.com!!

Purple

The picture I took of his purple mouth really didn't do it justice. So, for memory sake I wanted to post these that we took right after we gave him his last and final dose. I am so glad it is over, and I think Jack is too. As you can see he wasn't a big fan either. :)
