Peace of Mind.

I just got back from the cannery, and already I feel so much better about the future. For months now, I have heard how food prices have skyrocketed, and have worried that my little family doesn't have enough food in case of an emergency. Luckily for me, my good friend Sidni called the cannery and was able to squeeze the two of us in today. I don't know if you are all aware, but at least down here in Utah county, the cannery's are all booked until November. To top it off, we arrived at the cannery to find very bare shelves, and they had received a shipment in just this morning! They had no flour, powdered milk or white flour, and they ran out of cans before we had canned all that we wanted to do. I'm not sharing this to complain, but to illustrate how grateful I am feeling that I was able to get any food at all. Today has reaffirmed to me how inspired our church leaders are to have encouraged us to be prepared. I wish that I wouldn't have waited so long, but I am quite the procrastinator and sadly work the best under pressure! Last year my relief society president made the comment to me that she heard from a church leader that wheat would be worth gold in the future. Her comment went through my head today, when the cannery didn't have white wheat, and when we questioned them as to when they would get more in, they shook their heads and said they haven't had any white wheat come in for months. Sidni and I took the red wheat, thinking that we couldn't afford to not buy the red when who knows when it as well won't be available. Again, I am so grateful today to have a few months supply, and the peace of mind that comes with it. Thanks again Sid, for taking me with you and I hope you all out there are continuing your food storage as well!!

Thanks for the kick in the butt Sare! We got on a kick a few months ago and gathered a bunch of stuff up but still need to do more. I'm going to the cannery on the 16th!

I'm relieved to know that your family will be well taken care of. I hope that you canned enough food for Sammers! Thanks for setting such a good example!
