I was so glad that Saturday was a nice day. There are two little boys who desperately need a backyard to play in, however, it is nothing but dirt, weeds and lots of rocks. Chad has promised me that this year we will put down sod, so we decided it was a good day to start. Chad put the sprinklers in last year, so all that's left to do is get the dirt level so we can get top soil and sod. Easier said than done, my friends!! Unfortunately, we are sitting on a rock farm and need to get the majority of them picked up before we can do anything else. The good news is that once we do pick them up, we are throwing them under the unfinished deck, where they will hopefully keep the weeds from growing.

We have a pretty good size yard and the sight of all the rocks was just about enough to make me cry. Chad thinks that our hard work will make us appreciate it more. Well, I don't know about that, but I think we both agree that if we do ever move again, it will either be to home that is already landscaped or we are rich enough to hire it out!! Yea, it is probably safe to say that we are stuck where we are at, but that's okay. We really love our home.

Every now and then we could persuade the boys to help us pick up the rocks, but it didn't last too long. Not when they have lots of digging toys and mounds of dirt to play in.

I can't wait to get the rocks filled in so we can finish the deck and lay the sod down. Hopefully in the next few months, I will be posting pictures of our nice green, not brown backyard. And, if anyone needs any rocks let me know!! hee hee hee

Beaner,
It it looking good! This year we will have the BBQ's at your home. It was fun to see Keek still using the digger we gave him last year and Sammers looks ready for work with his gwubs on. Watch out Grandpa Saker, Keek will be the next big machinery pro!
Love you more,
momma
Ah the joys of yard work. That's what we were doing to on Sat. Needless to say I forgot the sunscreen We all got a little pink.... ahhh. Keep up the fun filled action packed rock picking up.
If you would have caught me about 12 years ago, you can bet that I would have taken those rocks off your hands (they would have been excellent additions to my collection)! I'm stoked to see your new greenery, is it going to be ready for our family-fun BBQ in a couple of weeks?!
Wow! What a project! It's true I'm sure it will totally be worth it! I can't wait to see the finished product! Have Fun!!
Looks like a lot of work. I remember helping my parents do the same thing when they built their house. It was a lot of work, but so worth it in the end. Good Luck!
How fun for you guys! I can honestly say that putting our yard in was the worst experience we have ever had. Hopefully yours is better! I can't wait to see nice green pictures in a few months! Good luck! I love how "helpful" the boys are. So cute!
So exciting! I can understand the anticipation of it finally being finished. That's how I feel about the painting of our home. Love the new blog colors so cute!
Fun for you guys. It will pay off! That deck will be awesome. That is what i would like in our next house we buy! Our yard is finally looking better after almost 3 years of living here. The people that had the house before us trashed the yard!! Good luck with the rocks
good luck with your yard. our's is landscaped and i can't say it's much better. weeds are obvious and i have to keep them under control, not fun. i don't envy all your rocks though. however, back here in tennessee our dirt is red clay and it's not too fun either. oh the joy of home ownership!
